when I was an intern… part one
As an intern at viaPiranesi I was so lucky to work for and with some excelent designers I learned a lot and about the design process from concept to the realization of the project.
These pictures are from the exhibition in Torino for Italy’s 150 years anniversary. viaPiranesi had the main responsability for the future of Italy part of the exhibit.
These pictures show the part where ViaPiranesi had the assignment to make an exhibitionstand for the invention competition that was exhibited in November.

The inventors were provided with one shopping cart each which contained a kit of cardboard in different sizes. The Idea was that each person should be able to decide their own stand within the given frames.
The inventors where also asked to make a presentation in the form of a picture with them self with a qr-code containing information. We gave them a “how to” manual for this…
…and that’s how I became the qr-code girl in Torino.
Workshop- Arkitekturfestivalen 2011
In September I was so lucky to attend the workshop to make the festival arena for the Architectural festival at Vulkan Oslo. The Festival architects were Rintalla Eggertsson Architects. And we were students from Island, Finland and Norway.
This is the teaser video that were made for the festival.
LAND H2O Ecorurality 2011 -Allai, Sardinia
Here is an article of the workshop we did in Allai Sardinia while study for the Master at NABA
ØRE-dobb.
I found my collection of 10-øring coins while moving. I used to find a lot of them on my way to swimming practice with my grandmother back in the 80’s and 90’s…
The after story: When I was a kid, my grandmother brought me for swimming practice every single wednesday. During the brake we ate bread with brown cheese in the locker room and when we came home she made pancakes and hot chocolate. My grandfather used to tape Batman the series for entertainment after the feast. Now the coins are jewelry.
Limited edition.
This was my master project “Velbekomme”.
The brief was to make a pavilion with the size of a 20” container for the Milan Expo 2015. We had to make a proposal for a pavilion that represented our country in the way we want people to see it.
My pavilion is inspired from the stave churches and the new modern buildings that are developed in our country. But also I wanted to make a deeper meaning to the construction. The soul of our country is the traditions that happens in our homes and our kitchen. So I designed a kitchen inside the pavilion that would be open for all the visitors of the Expo..
My contribution to the NABA International Contest is inspired from a well-known problem in our world. For hundreds of years, different people with different religion and culture have fought each other. Groups of people have been violated because of land and different beliefs. For example groups like: Catholics/Protestants in Northern Ireland, Serbs and Croatians in Yugoslavia, Communists in Eastern Germany before the wall fell. All of the aforementioned are groups of people that have lived next door to each other with a lot of hate in their daily lives. I call my project “Peace House”. My idea is to make a space at a university campus with small houses made for two people. I want to see if I can use architecture and interior design as a part of a solution in this matter. We need to give them an opportunity to live next door to each other as equals so they can learn how to reflect and communicate in a more constructive and peaceful way. The interior is simple and open. I have chosen not to place the dining table inside. This is because I want to invite the residents to use the outdoor dining table together, instead of eating alone in their personal space. The thought behind this is to let the two parts sit down with each other when they eat.
This are some pictures from a project we did at NABA. All of the students from the Master in interior design was given two floors each to make a concept. We also had a lottery to decide what kind of place each floor should be. E.g. Hotel, restaurant, brothel…
We all made two floors each for the model also and then put them together to complete the big skyscraper. The structure on the side was a lift and moving hotel lobby made by Sonja Petrovic(credit to her for that interesting parasite structure).
I made a concept suite for rock stars where the concept was to think of the stars’ life in layers from private to public, exposed to not exposed. The second floor I made were a restaurant where I decided to make a norwegian restaurant. The main object in the restaurant is the pathway of wood that pierces the glass facade and makes the visitors able to enjoy a view on their visit. The path also inspired the logo..
Paper roll playground.
This is a design that was one of my contributions to a project we did in our master course spring 2011. The brief was to make a festival on one of Milan’s squares. We decided to make a festival about recycling paper. Some of the structures were intended to be a permanent improvement of the square itself, like this structure.
The idea here is to create a structure that can be used outside for multiple purposes, depending on the children’s imagination. The bridge is in plywood; the tubes are in recycled paper and recycled concrete pipes. The design is inspired by paper rolls.
This was a project we made for l’oreal ,September 2011, that was intended to be a full scale installation for their press conference at NABA, Milano. The idea was to make a cloud made of transparent stripes with prints from earlier adverts the last decades.
Unfortunately the project did not get realized this time and instead it became this nice little book.
